🔬 Material Testing

  • Perform chemical composition analysis using spectrometer or wet lab techniques.
  • Conduct physical and mechanical testing (tensile, hardness, impact, etc.) on castings.
  • Analyze and record microstructure using metallurgical microscopes.
  • Conduct non-destructive testing (NDT) such as dye penetrant and magnetic particle testing if qualified.

🧾 Sample Preparation & Documentation

  • Prepare test specimens from castings as per standards (e.g., ASTM, ISO).
  • Maintain detailed records of all test results and ensure traceability.
  • Label, store, and dispose of samples in compliance with lab protocols.

📊 Data Reporting & Analysis

  • Enter test results into the system and report deviations to QA/QC Manager.
  • Support root cause analysis of defects by providing metallurgical and test data.
  • Assist in preparation of quality certificates and test reports for customers.

🧼 Lab Maintenance & Calibration

  • Ensure cleanliness, organization, and safety in the laboratory area.
  • Maintain testing equipment, conduct routine calibrations, and report malfunctions.
  • Ensure all lab procedures comply with safety and environmental guidelines.

👨‍🔬 Support for Production & Quality Teams

  • Provide real-time testing feedback during production runs and process trials.
  • Assist in validation of new alloys, process changes, and customer-specific requirements.

📌 Qualifications & Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related technical field.
  • 2–5 years of experience in a metallurgical or materials testing lab (preferably in a foundry or heavy industry).
  • Familiarity with spectrometers, universal testing machines (UTM), hardness testers, and microscopes.
  • Basic knowledge of casting materials such as grey iron, ductile iron, and steel.
  • Good analytical and documentation skills.
  • Awareness of safety procedures and lab best practices.
