♻️ Scrap Procurement

  • Identify and maintain relationships with local and international scrap suppliers.
  • Source different grades and types of ferrous scrap (e.g., HMS, cast iron, steel turnings) based on melt shop requirements.
  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules.
  • Ensure scrap quality meets internal metallurgical standards and specifications.

🧮 Planning & Inventory Control

  • Forecast scrap demand based on monthly production schedules and melting capacity.
  • Coordinate with the production and warehouse teams to monitor stock levels and plan timely deliveries.
  • Minimize material shortages and excess inventory through efficient planning.

📉 Market Monitoring

  • Track market trends, commodity prices, and global steel scrap indices to make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Recommend buying strategies (e.g., forward buying or spot purchases) to minimize cost impact.

🧾 Documentation & Compliance

  • Issue and manage purchase orders in the ERP system with accuracy and traceability.
  • Ensure supplier documentation (material certificates, weight tickets, etc.) is complete and compliant.
  • Coordinate with customs and logistics teams for import shipments, when applicable.

🤝 Vendor Evaluation

  • Assess supplier performance based on delivery, price stability, and quality compliance.
  • Maintain a database of approved scrap suppliers and evaluate new sources as needed.

📌 Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Diploma degree in Supply Chain, Metallurgy, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • 2–4 years of experience in scrap purchasing or raw material procurement in a steel or foundry environment.
  • Good understanding of steel grades and scrap classifications.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and planning skills.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and procurement software.
  • Knowledge of environmental and safety regulations related to scrap handling is a plus.
  • Willingness to visit supplier yards and evaluate scrap materials when needed.
