Job Description:Aquaai is seeking a talented and passionate backend engineer to join our team in designing and developing innovative underwater bio-inspired robots for subsurface monitoring. As a Junior Backend Engineer, you will work closely with senior engineers to design, develop, and maintain backend services that power our dashboard. Aquaai is an int'l, diverse, female-led company. Diverse candidates are encouraged to apply.Responsibilities & Functions:- Collaborate with other engineers to design and implement backend solutions using Python.- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and researchers to create cutting-edge solutions for waterways monitoring.- Participate in code reviews and provide feedback to improve code quality.- Debug and troubleshoot issues in existing codebase.- Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate backend services with front-end applications.Qualifications & Requirements:- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).- Experience with software development lifecycle in a team (code reviews, version control, tests)- Proficiency in Python programming language.- Experience with SQL and/or NoSQL databases.- Excellent problem-solving skills- English communication skills. Company language is English and you MUST be able to communicate well in English the good, bad & ugly while building what others deem the impossible. Curious, positive, excited, humorous are all a plus.Nice to Have:- Understanding of software development lifecycle and agile methodologies.- Experience with ROS or ROS2 (Robot Operating System).- C++ experience.- The boldness to think out of the box and propose unconventional solutions.
