What you’ll do

You will join our team to lead the development and operations of our medium-voltage (4-35kV) transformer manufacturing facility in Houston, Texas. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on overseeing the design, manufacturing, testing, and quality assurance of transformers. You’ll be responsible for ensuring compliance with industry standards, building and managing a high-performing technical team, and collaborating cross-functionally across engineering, operations, and customer service. This is a unique opportunity to shape and scale a high-impact product line from the ground up.

Where you’ll work

This role will be based in our Houston office. You must be willing to work in the office full-time, outside of our bi-weekly WFH Fridays.

Responsibilities

  • Build and lead a team of engineers and technicians for transformer design and production
  • Oversee end-to-end transformer manufacturing including design, prototyping, testing, and quality assurance
  • Ensure compliance with ANSI, IEEE, NEMA, and other relevant industry standards
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and efficient shop environment in accordance with safety protocols
  • Partner with internal teams (sales, operations, customer service) to align production with customer requirements
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives for product quality, cost efficiency, and lead times
  • Manage project schedules, resource allocation, and delivery commitments
  • Provide mentorship, training, and technical guidance to team members

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience in transformer design, testing, and manufacturing
  • Strong knowledge of medium-voltage transformer standards and testing methodologies
  • Prior experience leading a technical or production team
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex technical projects
  • Proficient in CAD tools, transformer design software, and manufacturing technologies
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment

Bonus points

  • Experience with dry-type or oil-filled transformer systems
  • Familiarity with UL or CSA certification requirements for transformers
  • Prior work experience in the energy, data center, or bitcoin mining sectors
  • Background in lean manufacturing or Six Sigma practices
  • Passion for emerging energy technologies or blockchain infrastructure
