Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Switchboard Engineer to join our team. This role will customize
switchboard designs according to customer specifications. The candidate will also work with our product
team in America and China to ensure designs are translated into accurate manufacturing prints. The ideal
candidate will have extensive experience in switchboard design, a deep understanding of UL 891
standards, and expertise in CAD software such as SolidWorks. The role requires excellent communication
skills to coordinate effectively with teams across different time zones.
Key Responsibilities:
● Work with the China-based engineering team to update and modify switchboard designs based on
customer specifications and requirements.
● Develop detailed manufacturing prints, including tolerances and material specifications, ensuring
compliance with project requirements and UL 891 standards.
● Create both mechanical and electrical design prints using SolidWorks and other CAD tools.
● Ensure all drawings and specifications are clear and ready for the product team in China to begin
manufacturing.
● Maintain and update design documentation to reflect any changes during the design and
manufacturing process.
● Collaborate with the production team in China to address any questions or issues that arise during
manufacturing.
● Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery of all design tasks.
● Communicate effectively with the US and China teams to ensure alignment and clarity on project
requirements.
Qualifications:
● Degree or certification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
● 3+ years of experience in sheet metal manufacturing environment
● Experience working in PDM systems for CAD, with the ability to create precise and detailed
mechanical and wiring diagrams, preferably 3+ years.
● Extensive experience in switchboard design, particularly for low-voltage switchboards compliant
with UL 891 standards.
● Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and material specifications.
● Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical information clearly.
● Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
● Experience working in a collaborative, international team environment.
Preferred Skills:
● Familiarity with North American manufacturing and electrical standards.
● Experience working with global teams, particularly in a fast-paced environment.
● Knowledge of materials and tolerances specific to electrical equipment manufacturing.
