The Role:
We are hiring a Senior Accountant to join our Finance and Accounting team as our organization grows and matures. The candidate will be reporting to the Chief accountant and Finance Director and will be coordinating with all the departments where and when necessary.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts, in addition to perform variance analysis
- Produce error-free accounting reports
- Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency
- Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
- Manage accounting assistants and bookkeepers / Train and mentor junior staff.
- Assist and manage tax audits and tax returns
- Help and support the team with external auditor requests.
- Support month-end and year-end close process
- Ensure compliance with IFRS principles
- Liaise with the finance team to improve financial procedures
- Assist with Nymcard Ad Hoc projects.
- Assist the country manager with all tasks related to finance and accounting
- Report to the finance team on a regular basis
- Perform other job-related tasks as needed.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Excellent communication skills, both written and orally
- Strong interpersonal, organizational skills and a team player
- You have a positive can-do attitude and a flexible approach
- Good analytical skills and detail oriented
- Good Understanding of accounting principles and practices, taxation, VAT and social security
- Ability to build accounting and financial operations from scratch
- Ability to meet a constant stream of deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- 5 years or more of experience preferably in card payments/banking industry
- Understanding of the settlement & reconciliation process with card schemes is a plus
