The Role

As a Machine Learning Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing and deploying ML models for real-time identity verification and fraud detection. You’ll work with computer vision, deep learning, and scalable ML pipelines to enhance document verification, biometric security, and fraud prevention. This is a Greenfield project, meaning you will have the opportunity to shape the ML infrastructure from the ground up.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deploy ML models for document verification, OCR, and fraud detection.
  • Build and optimize computer vision and biometric authentication models (facial recognition, liveness detection).
  • Design scalable MLOps pipelines for training, deploying, and monitoring machine learning models.
  • Work with structured & unstructured data to improve model accuracy and efficiency.
  • Implement anomaly detection systems to identify fraudulent documents or transactions.
  • Collaborate with data engineers to integrate ML models into the NymCard platform.
  • Stay updated with advancements in deep learning, NLP, and security-driven AI.
  • Ensure model interpretability and fairness, optimizing for accuracy and security.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong proficiency in Python and experience with ML frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-Learn.
  • Experience with computer vision (OpenCV, YOLO, or Transformers for image processing).
  • Hands-on experience with OCR (Tesseract, Google Vision AI, AWS Textract).
  • Familiarity with facial recognition and liveness detection techniques.
  • Strong understanding of MLOps tools (MLflow, Airflow, Kubernetes, Docker).
  • Experience with cloud ML deployment (AWS SageMaker, GCP AI, or Azure ML).
  • Knowledge of data engineering workflows, including ETL, SQL, and NoSQL.
  • Familiarity with fraud detection models (anomaly detection, predictive modeling).
