The Role

We are looking for a Head of Fraud to join our team in Cairo, Egypt. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the development, implementation, and optimization of fraud detection and prevention strategies. Your primary goal will be to manage and minimize fraud losses while ensuring that legitimate customers experience a frictionless onboarding and transaction process.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain fraud risk strategies, policies, and procedures across multiple regions (UAE, KSA, Qatar, Egypt, Lebanon and Pakistan).
  • Continuously assess evolving fraud trends, regulations, and best practices to enhance the fraud prevention framework.
  • Utilize fraud management tools such as PRM (Proactive Risk Manager) to monitor card transactions and identify high-risk activities in real time.
  • Conduct data analysis to detect patterns, suspicious activities, and potential fraud risks.
  • Coordinate closely with the dispute resolutions and chargebacks team to ensure fraud rules are in compliance with local and international regulations.
  • Develop and maintain clear procedures and frameworks for internal teams.
  • Lead and mentor a team of fraud analysts, providing guidance on best practices, methodologies, and risk assessment.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Compliance, Business Operations and Customer Success teams to align fraud prevention initiatives with overall business objectives.
  • Prepare regular fraud analytics dashboards and performance reports for senior management and key stakeholders.
  • Ensure all fraud operations and processes comply with local and international regulatory requirements.
  • Liaise with legal and compliance teams to stay up to date with evolving regulations in the respective countries

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or related field. Advanced degree or professional certification is a plus.
  • A minimum of 7+ years of experience in electronic payment fraud management or risk management within fintech, banking, or payments industries with track record in leading a team
  • Demonstrated experience in using fraud monitoring tools (e.g., PRM – Proactive Risk Manager) is a must.
  • Strong knowledge of card schemes and digital payment ecosystems and fraud rules, as well as emerging fraud trends.
  • Proficient in data analysis, and familiar with analytics tools or SQL.
  • Exceptional communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present insights to executive stakeholders.
  • Understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements within the MENA and South Asian regions (UAE, KSA, Lebanon, Pakistan, Qatar).
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of security product constructs, particularly in payments and finance.
