The Role
We are hiring a Junior Accountant to support the record to report cycle and keep our ledgers accurate, complete, and audit ready. You will post daily entries from core systems, prepare bank reconciliations, assist with month end close, and provide clean schedules that tie back to source data. You will work closely with Billing on invoice postings and with Settlement and Reconciliation to ensure scheme and bank activity is reflected correctly in the general ledger.
Day to day, you will prepare journal entries for invoices for accruals and prepayments, update the fixed asset register and monthly depreciation. You will support revenue and cost deferrals, and keep evidence and approvals organised so monthly closing tasks and audit requests can be completed on time.
You will drive tidy documentation and small process improvements, for example standardising import files, strengthening checklist controls, and improving spreadsheets for speed and accuracy. Success in this role looks like reconciliations delivered to schedule, low post-close adjustments, clean audit trails, and reliable collaboration with Finance, Billing, Settlement and Reconciliation, and Operations.
What you will do
- Process daily accounting entries from approved sources and templates and ensure they post to the correct accounts and cost centers
- Prepare bank reconciliations and other balance sheet reconciliations; explain breaks and post approved adjustments
- Assist with month end close: journals for accruals and prepayments, revenue and cost deferrals, reclasses, and checklist completion
- Support external audit requests: pull samples, compile evidence, maintain tie outs and version controlled files
- Coordinate with Billing on invoice posting and with Settlement and Reconciliation on scheme and bank entries
- Maintain fixed asset additions and disposals register and prepare depreciation runs with supporting documents
- Prepare ad hoc analyses and simple reports for Accounting leadership and other stakeholders
What You Bring
- 1 to 3 years in accounting or finance operations; banking or fintech experience is preferred
- Good understanding of accounting principles and month end routines; comfortable with reconciliations and journals
- Proficiency in Excel including pivots, lookups, text to columns, and clean formatting for reviews
- Clear written documentation, attention to detail, and reliable follow through on deadlines
- Positive, collaborative approach and the ability to work with multiple teams on time sensitive tasks
Bonus Points
- Experience with an ERP such as SAP, NetSuite or Oracle
- Familiarity with scheme settlement and reconciliation concepts or card issuing flows
- Exposure to VAT support files and basic revenue recognition inputs
- Basic SQL or BI tool skills for validations and simple reports
