Similarly, in Credit, we raise and invest capital across several private credit, liquid credit and public equity strategies.

Our investors include a broad range of global clients, including public and private pension plans, sovereign wealth funds, insurance companies, family offices and high net worth individuals. Onex has $55.9 billion in assets under management, of which $8.4 billion is Onex’ own investing capital. We generate value for our shareholders through two segments: Investing and Asset Management.

The Opportunity:

Onex is seeking an experienced Investor Coverage Professional (Relationship Manager) to expand the firm’s relationships across the institutional investor landscape in Canada. This individual will help to drive fundraising and business-development efforts across Onex’ strategies, including Private Equity and Credit.

The successful candidate will be a strategic relationship manager with deep knowledge of the Canadian institutional landscape and bring a strong commercial drive. Reporting to the Head of Client and Product Solutions, this role will be based in Toronto. The corporate title for this position will be commensurate with experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, target and cultivate relationships with Canadian institutional investors. Use a structured territory and coverage plan to build a strong pipeline of prospective investors. Draw on market research, investor databases, and internal resources to source and qualify new business opportunities.
  • Partner closely with Relationship Managers across Canada to ensure alignment of investor coverage strategies, share market intelligence, coordinate cross-border touchpoints, and ensure a unified approach to institutional engagement across key accounts.
  • Drive the full lifecycle of fundraising: prepare and deliver pitches/fund presentations, handle due diligence, follow up with prospects, and close commitments. Act as the primary point of contact for US LPs within your territory from first outreach through to commitment and onboarding.
  • Build and maintain long-term, trust-based relationships with institutional clients. Provide high-touch service: deliver regular updates, respond to investor requests and ongoing communication post-investment, and aim to convert first-time investors into repeat and long-term partners.
  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure investor proposals are aligned with Onex’ offerings. Help shape product positioning, marketing materials, and fund narratives based on investor feedback and competitive landscape.
  • Monitor developments in the institutional investor landscape and macro/market trends. Provide insights and feedback internally to influence product strategy, positioning, and business development efforts. Tailor pitches and materials to reflect investor needs and market context.
  • Maintain accurate records of investor interactions, manage a robust sales pipeline, track progress against fundraising goals, and deliver regular reporting to senior leadership. Ensure effective data management and follow-up process discipline.
  • Represent Onex at relevant industry conferences, investor events, roadshows, and meetings.
  • Promote the firm’s brand and investment capabilities to the Canadian institutional community and position Onex as a credible partner for long-term institutional capital.

Candidate Profile:

  • 6-10+ years of experience in institutional sales, capital raising, or business development, ideally within private markets or alternative investments.
  • Strong understanding of the Canadian institutional investor ecosystem, including pension funds, insurance platforms, endowments, foundations, and multi family offices.
  • Demonstrated success in building relationships and raising capital from sophisticated institutional allocators.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to distill complex investment concepts for a range of audiences.
  • High degree of professionalism, judgment, integrity, and client-service orientation.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • An analytical, detail orientation with experience working collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • A bias for action, ability to work under pressure, effectively multi-task and adhere to many concurrent deadlines.
