About Pemo

Pemo is a spend management platform for SMEs across MENA, headquartered in DIFC, Dubai. Finance teams use Pemo for corporate cards, expense automation, bill pay, and accounting integrations in one place. We serve customers across the UAE and we are scaling from $10M ARR towards $100M ARR. This role builds one of the growth engines that gets us there.

What you’ll be doing

  • Design and implement the next generation of Pemo’s data infrastructure and analytics.

  • Work closely with engineering teams to create or enhance complex data models.

  • Work with various stakeholders, including high-level management, to understand business needs,

    document and prioritize requirements, and help them use data effectively

  • Build and maintain batch and streaming data pipelines critical to daily operations, orchestrated in

    Airflow and modeled in dbt

  • Collaborate on deployments, data migrations, and system upgrades.

  • Create data infrastructure, ETL processes, dashboards, and reports to support ongoing analysis and

    monitoring of production performance

  • Proactively identify gaps in data collection and define processes.

  • Establish and lead data governance, ensuring data quality, lineage, and security

  • Ensure compliance with regional data residency and regulatory requirements in UAE and KSA

  • Be involved in the entire data development process, from business understanding to quality assurance and maintenance.

  • Maintain documentation for data systems and processes.

  • Availability for on-call support when needed.

Who we are looking for

  • Experienced in designing and optimizing database systems, with expertise in PostgreSQL.

  • Proficient in advanced SQL, with at least 5 years of experience querying large and complex datasets.

  • Experience with dimensional data modeling & schema design in Data Warehouses

  • Knowledgeable about Kafka and ElasticSearch for data pipelines, and at least one of the major data

  • warehouses such BigQuery, Snowflake and ClickHouse for warehousing and analytics.

  • Hands-on with Apache Airflow for pipeline orchestration and dbt for data transformation and modeling.

  • Proficient with data streaming platforms like mParticle, RudderStack, and Segment for automation and

  • personalization.

  • Skilled in BI and visualization tools like Tableau, Looker, or similar platforms.

  • Strong in deploying Infrastructure-as-Code using tools like Terraform.

  • Familiar with the Google Cloud Platform environment and its services.

  • Excellent at communicating with diverse stakeholders, with strong English language skills.

  • Passionate about data-driven growth solutions in a fast-paced fintech environment.

Must have

  • Data warehouse modeling — can look at our sources and design the right analytical model (not just move data around). This is the core of the role.

  • Mapping and integrating multiple data sources — building ETL/ELT pipelines end to end.

  • Strong Python and SQL.

  • Hands-on with pipeline/orchestration tools (Airflow or similar).

Nice to have

  • BigQuery (that’s our current warehouse).

  • ClickHouse — we’re migrating to it, so exposure is a bonus but not required; it’s new enough that few people have it.

  • Any experience with data privacy / PII handling in a data platform.
