The Quantity Surveyor (QS) specializing in Tendering and Procurement is responsible for managing all aspects of the tendering and procurement process on construction projects. This includes cost estimation, preparation of tender documents, evaluation of bids, and contract negotiation. The QS ensures that procurement activities are executed effectively, meeting project timelines, budgets, and quality standards

Tendering

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare Bills of Quantities (BoQs), cost estimates, and detailed tender documentation.
  • Issue tender inquiries to subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Analyze and evaluate received tenders or quotations.
  • Prepare tender reports and recommendations for award.

Procurement

  • Develop procurement strategies aligned with project requirements.
  • Source and select subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions to achieve best value.
  • Draft and manage subcontracts and purchase orders.

Cost Management

  • Provide input into budgeting and cost planning during the pre-construction phase.
  • Monitor procurement costs to ensure alignment with project budget.
  • Advise on commercial risks related to procurement.

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Liaise with project managers, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure clarity and transparency in procurement processes.

Compliance

  • Ensure procurement processes comply with legal and company policy requirements.
  • Maintain proper documentation and records of procurement activities.

Key Skills And Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Science, MRICS
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
