Responsibilities
As a Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for a wide range of financial duties. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Recording day-to-day financial transactions accurately and completing the posting process.
- Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely processing of invoices and payments.
- Conducting regular reconciliations of all company bank accounts and financial statements.
- Preparing financial reports, including balance sheets and income statements, for management review.
- Maintaining a well-organised and accessible accounting filing system.
- Processing payroll and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
- Assisting with budget preparation and financial forecasting.
- Ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in accounting principles and a keen eye for detail. Key qualifications include:
- Proven experience working as a bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role.
- A solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles.
- Hands-on experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and MS Office, particularly Excel.
- Exceptional numeracy skills and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines consistently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to handle sensitive information with the utmost confidentiality.
- A relevant qualification or degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is highly desirable.
