Key Responsibilities
• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and overhaul pumps, motors, valves, gearboxes, compressors, and piping systems.
• Maintain RO plant equipment including: High-pressure pumps
1. Booster pumps
2. Pressure vessels
3. RO skids and membranes
4. Filters and strainers
5. Chemical dosing systems
6. Valves and actuators
7. Heat exchangers
8. Cranes and lifting equipment
• Perform equipment alignment, lubrication, and condition monitoring.
• Participate in commissioning, startup, and shutdown activities.
• Assist in root-cause analysis of equipment failures.
• Complete maintenance reports and update CMMS/work orders.
• Coordinate with operations, electrical, and instrumentation teams.
• Follow permit-to-work procedures and HSE requirements.
• Respond to emergency breakdowns and plant call-outs when required.
Required Qualifications
• Diploma or Technical Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Maintenance.
• 3–5 years (or more) experience in desalination, water treatment, power plants, oil & gas, or industrial facilities.
• Experience with RO desalination systems is preferred.
• Knowledge of rotating and static equipment maintenance.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and technical manuals.
• Familiarity with maintenance management systems (CMMS).
Mechanical Technician's Key skills:
1. Hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance activities, including equipment overhauling, bearing and mechanical seal replacement.
2. Experience working with centrifugal, vertical, submersible, and dosing pumps.
3. Hands-on experience in the assembly and disassembly of plug valves, butterfly valves, and check valves.
4. Knowledge of laser alignment, dial gauge measurements, and CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) software.
5. Knowledge of pump vibration analysis and predictive maintenance techniques, with hands-on experience in the assembly and disassembly of compressors and motors.
6. Working experience with PVDF and CPVC materials.
7. Experience in RO (Reverse Osmosis) systems is optional but will be considered an added advantage.
Commissioning Experience
Inspect, commissioning, troubleshoot, repair, and overhaul pumps, motors, valves, gearboxes, compressors, and piping systems.
• Inspection: Experienced in inspecting mechanical equipment and piping systems for proper installation, alignment, connections, and readiness for commissioning.
• Commissioning: Hands-on experience in pre-commissioning and commissioning of pumps, motors, valves, gearboxes, compressors, and piping systems, including functional testing and start-up.
• Troubleshooting: Skilled in identifying and resolving mechanical issues such as vibration, leakage, overheating, misalignment, and performance problems.
• Repair & Maintenance: Experienced in dismantling, repair, component replacement, reassembly, alignment, and functional testing of mechanical equipment.
• Overhauling: Capable of overhauling pumps, motors, gearboxes, compressors, and valves, including replacement of bearings, seals, and worn components.
• Piping Systems: Experienced in piping inspection and commissioning activities, including pressure testing, flushing, valve checks, and line-up verification.
