Job functions of a Safety Officer in KSA:

  • Safety Policy Development: Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies, procedures, and guidelines in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations. Ensure that safety policies are communicated effectively to all employees and stakeholders.
  • Safety Training: Develop and conduct safety training programs for employees to raise awareness of safety practices, procedures, and regulations. Provide specialized training for employees working with hazardous materials or in high-risk environments.
  • Risk Assessment: Conduct regular inspections and risk assessments of the workplace to identify potential hazards, unsafe conditions, and unsafe practices. Develop strategies to mitigate risks and improve safety standards.
  • Incident Investigation: Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and contributing factors. Develop and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence and improve safety performance.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations, standards, and codes of practice. Stay updated on changes in regulations and industry best practices, implementing necessary changes to maintain compliance.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures to address various emergency situations, including fires, natural disasters, and medical emergencies. Conduct drills and exercises to test the effectiveness of emergency plans.
  • Safety Communication: Promote a culture of safety by communicating safety messages, initiatives, and best practices to employees at all levels of the organization. Encourage employee participation and engagement in safety-related activities and programs.
  • Safety Inspections: Conduct regular safety inspections of facilities, equipment, and work areas to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations. Identify and address safety deficiencies and take corrective actions as necessary.
  • Safety Reporting: Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, training sessions, and safety-related activities. Prepare and submit reports to management and regulatory agencies as required.
  • Safety Committee Participation: Serve as a member of the safety committee, collaborating with management and employees to address safety concerns, develop solutions, and drive continuous improvement in safety performance.

Requirements for Safety Officer jobs in KSA

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., CSP, CIH) preferred.
  • Proven experience in occupational health and safety or a related field, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in safety management or a similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations, standards, and best practices, including OSHA, EPA, and NFPA regulations.
  • Strong understanding of hazard identification, risk assessment, and safety management principles and methodologies.
  • Experience in developing, implementing, and managing safety programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate safety-related information to diverse audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify safety hazards, assess risks, and develop effective solutions.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software systems.
  • Commitment to professional development and staying updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices in occupational health and safety.
